Jerry Molen, Producer

Academy Award winning producer, Jerry Molen visited with students enrolled in MGMT 195, Introduction to the Entertainment Business.

Molen, a Montana native, produced several blockbuster films, including Schindler’s List, Jurassic Park-The Lost World, The Color Purple, Rain Man, Hook, Minority Report, and Days of Thunder, to name but a few. Along the way, he learned a lot about what it takes to become a successful producer, manager and leader.

He shared his basic responsibilities with the students, the issues that he often faced and had to resolve, and he gave several recommendations to the students on how to get into and become successful in the entertainment business.

This interaction between entertainment industry experts and students demonstrates one of the true values of Entertainment Management at The University of Montana. Beyond the technical expertise, every instructor provides a personal perspective on developing a career in this industry.
