Producer Jerry Molen and Cinematographer Martin Shaer

World renown film producers and cinematographers share their knowledge and skills with students enrolled in MGMT 403 Principles of Entertainment Management. Jerry Molen, the producer of the Academy Award winning film, Schindler’s List, Martin Shaer, the lead cinematographer for the Pirates of the Caribbean series, and Peter Rosten, a former HBO producer and the founder of Media Arts in Public Schools, spent several hours recently discussing the business of creating, producing and distributing major films. They discussed common means for identifying a good story, and then developing it into a blockbuster film. They also discussed budgeting for films, including the rising cost of special effects and negotiating for talent. Finally, they discussed how films are marketed and distributed.
