James Yelich Teaches Class

James Yelich was a great resource for students in the Venue Management class. He gave MGMT 295 students a very clear cut description of what he considers the most important things for a venue to posses in order to be both financially successful and attractive to artists. They must be comfortable for the artist, reasonably priced, have a solid attendance history, fall within the tour route, and if necessary, possess the ability to scale down.

Even more importantly to future venue operators, he discussed his biggest pet peeves concerning venues, such as an inadequate marketing team, having to deal with Union stagehands, a frustrating ticketing system and how traffic in and out of the venue is handled. Somewhat surprisingly his biggest pet peeve is bad catering. However, this isn't for artists but rather for the production team, which Yelich stressed the importance of caring for.
