MGMT 101.1: Introduction to Entertainment Business

In this introduction course, students in the lower-core establish an understanding of the basics of business. In doing so, we use the entertainment business as vehicle of illustration. Class content will be delivered largely by several guest instructors who have an active part in the entertainment business. The content of the class includes a series of brief overviews of accounting, budgeting, creativity, decision-making, entrepreneurship, ethics, finance, information systems, leadership, management, marketing, motivation, negotiations, operations, production, promotions, strategy, teamwork and technology. Finally, we cover these topics from both domestic and global perspective.

MGMT 402.1: Entertainment Management I

In this course, students begin to apply everything they have learned to a live event. Students begin planning the annual live event, Spring Thaw. Students develop, promote, produce, budget and oversee all aspects of this festival.

MGMT 403.1: Entertainment Management II

This course, which must be taken along with MGMT 402, is an expert lecture series that allows instructors to work with students to develop and produce their annual Spring Thaw event.
